Today we are talking about Jeffree Star Velour liquid lipstick. I held off a long time on playing with these- many of the original shades just didn’t interest me and to be honest, I still don’t care for the aesthetic of the brand. However, when I saw Beautylish was offering a Summer Delight Lip Box, I pulled the trigger. Please note that the Lip Box is currently out-of-stock but should be returning soon. I did contact customer service but they were unable to give me an estimated date. In the meantime, the shades are available individually on Beautylish. Side note – the reason I am recommending Beautylish over Jeffree Star’s site is that I love Beautylish’s customer service. That’s just my preference! Anywho, the Summer Delight Lip Box has three shades: Virginity, Nude Beach and Watermelon Soda. There are two more shades in Jeffree’s Summer collection – 714 and Queen Bee – which are not included in the box. All of the summer Velour Liquid Lipsticks have a watermelon scent. Jeffree Star Summer Delight Lip Box from Beautylish

Good morning, everyone!

Jeffree Star

My favorite thing about the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks is the applicator. Unlike the standard doe foot applicator, this one has a little groove in the middle that helps guide a clean lip line. The formulas of the three shades I tried are all different; I will describe them as we go.

Jeffree Star

Nude Beach

OK, so let’s start with my least favorite – Nude Beach. Nude Beach is a light coral shade. The formula feels thick but still manages to become extremely streaky upon application. When I tried to build the color up through multiple coats, my lips just looks cakey and gross. Additionally, this is not a great color for me.

Jeffree Star

Virginity

Virginity, a very light lavender, has a nice formula of medium consistency. It applies fairly opaquely for such a light color. It is not a superb color for my skin tone, but I can make it work with a variety of lip liners.

Jeffree Star

Watermelon Soda

Watermelon Soda is my favorite of the bunch. It is a very unique coral-pink. This one has a thinner consistency, but you wouldn’t know it when it is applied. It has wonderful pigmentation and just makes the lips look so full and pretty. Watermelon Soda is the most wearable shade for me.

Jeffree Star

Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the way these Velour Liquid Lipsticks feel on the lips. They just feel very heavy and my lips experience almost a numbness that is a bit uncomfortable. The wear-time is very good, however. These last many hours before fading.

Jeffree Star

The Beautylish X Jeffree Star Summer Delight Lip Box is a great way to try Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick line. The three shades are very different and unique. While the lipsticks themselves are not my favorite, you may have a different experience!

Today will be just a brief swatch of the new Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Mint Condition. As you may know, Jeffree Star recently released four Skin Frosts (aka highlighters). These include King Tut, a bronze, Peach Goddess (no description necessary, right?), Ice Cold, a pure white and Mint Condition. mint condition Mint Condition is, as its name suggests, a mint-hued highlighter. Somewhere between green and blue, this highlighter is astonishing both for its unique color and its pan size. Coming in at a whopping .53 oz, the Jeffree Star Skin Frosts are nearly double the size of many popular highlighters including BECCA (.28 oz) and Hourglass (.35 oz). swatches When swatched, Jeffree Star Mint Condition is somewhat less green-blue than in the pan. However, there is still enough coolness to get that mermaid highlight that you’ve always desired. Want less of a frostbitten look? Then just blend it out a little for a cool-toned, but somewhat more natural, highlight. The Jeffree Star Skin Frosts are sold out on most online retailers, but social media information seems to point to a restock within the next week or so. Keep your eyes peeled!

For the second year in a row, I took my chances with the Beautylish Lucky Bag. In case you’ve never heard of this concept, here is how Beautylish described this product in their initial email:

Beautylish Lucky Bag

I thought it might be fun to share what I got!

Beautylish Lucky Bag

Beautylish lucky bag Product List

Bioderma Sebium H20 (100mL) – I have this already from another Beautylish haul but I’ve definitely considered repurchasing. Now I don’t have to! ($6.95)

Jefree Star Velour Lip Scrub – This is an item I never considered purchasing, but I do enjoy a good lip scrub. ($12)

It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil – The idea of a “universal” color always makes me nervous. With my highlighted hair, I try to keep my brows as cool as possible, and browns are frequently warm. I did, however, test this out and the shade is totally fine! It’s perhaps a bit darker than I’m used to, but still manageable. ($24)

Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl in Marlene Midnight – I love a good deep navy eye pencil! I’ve used this brand and line before, but never this color. I love the formula so this was an excellent surprise. ($27)

Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Patrice – I never have much luck with the application of cream blushes, but this one just may be my new favorite. The deep red color blends out to a really subtle and attractive crimson flush. ($26)

BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector – A few weeks ago I had to decide if I wanted this or their Backlight Priming Filter. I went with the latter, but I’m so glad I now can add the former to my collection. I tested this out this morning and it may be the most mattifying product I’ve ever used. ($36)

Natasha Denona Eye Shadow Palette 5, palette #10 – This item isn’t even for sale yet on Beautylish, but it may just be my favorite Lucky Bag item! I’m not going to go into great detail because my next post will be full of swatches. This retails on Natasha’s own website for $48.

Final Thoughts

In total, my bag 2016 Beautylish Lucky Bag was worth $179.95, which means I had a savings of $104.95. As one of my biggest hauls during the year, this definitely holds a good value still and I will consider going in for next year’s Beautylish lucky bag when the time comes! I also highly recommend Beautylish in general because they offer some really nice brands and fantastic customer service.

I hope you will share what you received. Please post your links in the comments!
