Hello, class!
I am too excited about MAC’s new lip product to wait any longer to talk about it! They recently released a gloss called the Grand Illusion Glossy Liquid Lipcolour:
Swipe on futuristic sheen with this exclusive holographic lip colour packed with iridescent pearls, then be transfixed by the refreshing cooling sensation that makes lips feel instantly fuller. – maccosmetics.com
Before we get into detail, I would argue that some of the MAC Grand Illusion lip colours are actually duo/multi-chromatic and not so much holographic. My experience with them is that they shift color depending on the light, rather than project any sort of three dimensional effect. But I could be getting my terms wrong…
Anyway, I chose to try the shades Let’s Rock and Electric Rainbow. Let’s Rock is a coppery orange with green and yellow reflect. Electric Rainbow is an opalescent pink with gold reflect. There is a vast multitude of other shades available, including green!
The MAC Grand Illusion lip colours fall somewhere in between a gloss and a traditional (non-matte) liquid lip. They are quite pigmented and can be worn on their own or over liner or a lipstick of your choice.
I was especially surprised by the “cooling sensation.” I never expected such a minty effect in a MAC product, but I don’t hate it. It actually is quite refreshing!
The MAC Grand Illusion comes in clear tubes with a black tapered screw top, similar to the retro matte liquid lip colors.
As you can see, these glosses swatch beautifully:
This is a thicker formula and as such, it can last a few hours before reapplication is necessary. It feels creamy on the lips, and as I mentioned earlier, a little tingly and refreshing.
For the icing on the cake, here is a video of the swatches:
Have I convinced you yet? If so, take a peak here for all of the color options!
Be sure to let me know what you think of these, and if you pick any up!

Hello, everyone! I hope you are doing well today!
Since I realized halfway through April that I never did a March Favorites post, I’ve decided to combine the two months for today’s favorites extravaganza. To be honest, I’ve really been loving the same products for a few months now, so it works out perfectly. Here is what I am currently obsessed with.
The Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek PaletteTarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette, which I swatched here is the most amazing little unicorn palette. I normally dislike jewel tones, but these are richly pigmented and incredibly easy to work with.
Two items from MAC that I’ve been loving are the new Next to Nothing Face Colour and the In Extreme Dimension Mascara from the Work it Out Collection. The Next to Nothing Face Colour is a super sheer base that applies easily with both brush and sponge. I love that it is light but still somehow offers enough coverage to be used without any other foundation. I am also a huge fan of colored mascaras so the In Extreme Dimension mascaras from the Work it Out collection are my jam. Be sure to check out Well-Toned and Gym Dandy.
Going back to unicorn amazingness, can we talk about the Laura Geller Diamond Dust Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator? It’s basically heaven. It is officially my favorite iridescent highlighter and that’s saying a lot because I own approximately eight. Get yours at the Laura Geller website (where they also offer free shipping for orders over $50!) Get yours at the Laura Geller website (where they also offer free shipping for orders over $50!)
Lastly, I’ve been carrying around the new Dior Addict Lacquer StickDior Addict Lacquer Stick. This formula is creamy, but lasts longer than other shiny, creamy, comfortable lipsticks. My favorite everyday shade is “Underground,” a mauve-y nude. However, I also enjoy Sassy, Turn Me Dior, and Gamer for some brighter options.
As always, I want to hear about your monthly favorites. Tell me in the comments or link to them!

Oh my goodness, class, I almost forgot to do my monthly favorites again! But, I didn’t, so let’s get the January favorites rolling! As you know, if you follow me on Instagram, I did a “no buy” in January as well as a one lipstick per day challenge. Therefore, you are not going to see any really new products this month, or any lipstick at all!
Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Natural Perfection Foundation is quite possibly my new “HG” foundation. It applied beautifully with sponge and brush, and leaves the most natural satin finish. It is also the longest wearing foundation I’ve ever tried, and it doesn’t even settle into the one deep line I have by my mouth. It’s magical! I use the lightest shade, and I do find that it oxidizes a tiny bit.
MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base was my go-to eye primer this month. It really prevents shadows from creasing throughout the day.
Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette is amazing for transforming your look from everyday to magical mermaid unicorn. I especially love layering it over simple black liner for an out-of-this-world holographic effect. It’s currently out-of-stock at Sephora, but check you local store and take a peek at my swatches here!
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in “Kitten Karma” is the most amazing creation of sparkly goodness. It is a lightweight liquid formula that’s easy to blend out for subtlety or pack on for glitter that you can see from space. I also use an angled brush to turn it into a liner. Glitter for everyone!
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara has probably been on my favorites list before, but I’m too lazy to check. Every time I go back to it I wonder why I’ve ever used anything else. It truly keeps my stubby lashes curled all day, without them feeling stiff.
Well, those were my January favorites! What were some of yours? Please tell us!

Hello, class! I hope everyone has been having a wonderful September! Today I want to talk about a new product from MAC, their Liptensity lipstick line.
According to MAC, Liptensity is:
A brilliant formula that pushes the boundaries of colour. Each Lipstick holds intense amounts of pigment, resulting in extreme colour intensity, clarity and vibrancy. This luxurious gelled base melts on contact, providing fully saturated colour with a satin finish in one stroke.
So I wasn’t initially interested in the Liptensity line. It seemed gimmicky, and I was unsure of the balm-like shape of the lipstick. But then I saw some amazing swatches on Beauty Products Are My Cardio and my mind was changed.
I’ve played with three colors-
Driftwood – Soft lilac beige
Toast and Butter – Peachy cinnamon
Galaxy Grey – Light bluish grey
The Liptensity lipsticks come in a matte tube that matches the color of the product. Win! (Does anyone else HATE having to turn over every single standard MAC lipstick to see what shade it is?)
As advertised, the Liptensity shades stay true to color on the lips. More importantly, they are incredibly comfortable. In fact, they are almost moisturizing. Yet, they do no slip or feather the way many comfortable lipsticks do. Basically I’m in love and I may need more (hello, Fall reds!)
Out of the three, Driftwood and Toast and Butter are certainly the more wearable. However, you know I love me some Galaxy Grey. But I’ll be saving that one for the weekends!
There are currently 24 shades of Liptensity available, and I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried any other colors!

]]>[may contain affiliate links] Well, it’s been a pretty MAC-tacular week! First we had the It’s A Strike goodies. Now we have the collection I’ve been waiting for all year: Star Trek. The MAC Star Trek collection is pretty meaningful to me since I’ve been watching the various Star Trek series since I was little. So naturally, I had to acquire all of the lip products to swatch for you.
Let’s start with the lipsticks! There are four MAC Star Trek lipsticks and all are shimmery to some extent.
Where No Man Has Gone Before (Lustre) – pink with gold pearl
Klingiton (Frost) – deep purple with fine pink glitter
LLAP (Frost) – icy rose champagne
The Enemy Within (Frost) – neutral gold shimmer
In my opinion, the lipglasses are the true stars of the MAC Star Trek products (no pun intended!)
KHAAANNN! – berry with red reflect
Set To Stun – light silver with gold pearl
Warp Speed Ahead – plum with blue and pink reflects
Pleasure Plant – muted gold shimmer
There are also three unique-looking powders (Trip The Light Fantastic Powders, to be exact), though I only have one to show you.
Luna Luster – sheer wash of soft rose shimmer
Basically, my arm was a glitter-fest when I was done swatching!
All of the MAC Star Trek products feature the Star Trek logo in metallic silver. I highly recommend picking a few of these items up if you are lacking in the sparkle department!

[may contain affiliate links] Hello beautiful class! Today we’re doing just a quick synopsis of a couple of items from MAC’s new collection. The MAC It’s A Strike features bowling-related items ranging from shadows to lipsticks to nail polish. I hunted down two lipsticks and a powder from this collection to swatch for you.
The pearlmatte face powder contains pearlized and satin shades for both a blush and highlighting effect. Two white bowling pins sit atop a pink background and next to a green ball. All of these shades swatch their respective colors and can be swirled together for a beautiful sheen. Please note that the red on the pins is an overspray and will be gone after your first use.
Babes and Balls is a deep burgundy, matte lipstick. This shade is limited edition and an online exclusive. The other shade of lipstick I have from the MAC It’s A Strike line is Liquid Lurex. This is a a “tarnished golden” dazzle finish (which I think was MAC’s original glitter formula) and it is utterly fantastic.
Sadly, my swatches didn’t pick up that Liquid Lurex has a sort of pink shift to it. It’s beautiful.
Overall, the MAC It’s A Strike collection has some cute items, with the bowling ball and pins powder being the most unique aesthetically. Be sure to get what you want before these items are gone!

]]>As you may know, MAC recently added 29 (if I counted correctly…) lipstick shades to their permanent collection, under the name of “Bangin’ Brilliant.” I was most excited when I saw some of the frost finishes that were coming out. Normally, I hate frost and lustre finishes – these are usually very sheer and quick to completely come off the lips. However, there were some duo-chrome looking options that just looked AMAZING. It so happens, these were also the last shades in the MAC Bangin’ Brilliant collection to be released. Because that’s my kind of luck.
The three shades in the MAC Bangin’ Brilliant collection I ended up strongly attached to are Pick Me, Pick Me!, On and On, and Model Behaviour.

So it seems that MAC has been doing this thing where they release two or more collections right on top of each other. Maybe it’s because they want all of our money. I don’t know- just a theory.
I have a few items from the Vibe Tribe collection to show you. This summer collection has gotten a lot of press, especially because some feel the tribal theme is offensive or culturally insensitive. I’m not going to get into that. Not my thing. Here’s what MAC says, specifically about the Vibe Tribe Colour collection:
Sound and self-expression converge in the vast canvas of the desert. Lose control and imagine yourself in lips painted reckless shades of red and coral, or a flash of gold. Let your eyes escape reality in teal, cobalt, mandarin and charcoal, as free-spirited nails glisten in succulent tangerine and the perfect, buttery nude. Abandon control in online-exclusives Rio Grande Romance and Painted Canyon. Feel the vibe.
Now, back to reality. In addition to the “reckless shades of red and coral” this collection also has some very wearable colors. Let’s take a look.
My picks are the shades Tanarama, Arrowhead and Hot Chocolate. Tanarama is a frost finish that is pale beige with a golden shimmer. Arrowhead is a matte bare nude and Hot Chocolate is a satin finish dirty plum.
I’m also going to throw in the Patentpolish lip pencil in the shade Desert Evening. While this pencil looks blue, it swatches as the most beautiful pearly gloss.
Adobe Brick is the most unique powder blush shade offered, but still wearable when blended well.
The Gleamtones powder is described as “A bronzing and highlighting powder with a colour block of four shades in one pan.”
Overall, I think the MAC Vibe Tribe collection offers a great deal of variety and certainly more wearable options than the recent Chris Chang collaboration.
If you have any swatches of recent products, please share in the comments!

Hello, class! You may have noticed that our website was down briefly yesterday. My sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. I am back today with a few meager swatches of MAC’s newest collection from their collaboration with designer Chris Chang. Before we get into the MAC X Chris Chang lipstick swatches, let’s talk about the collection.
According to MAC:
China’s most outlandish fashion designer puts an acid-soaked twist on her modern M·A·C collection, featuring a vivid kaleidoscope of cutting-edge colour, inspired by the ancient Chinese art form Kunqu. Surreal hues of Lipstick, Cream Colour Base and Eye Shadow, and uniquely designed packaging, are saturated with her signature dramatic flair.
There are a number of products available, including lipstick, shadow and powder. You can order here if you don’t have a MAC near you!
I played around with three four MAC X Chris Chang lipsticks: Gold XIXI, Cloud Gait, DDDevilish and Plum Princess. Gold XIXI is described as a Lemony Pastel Yellow, but on the lips shows a bit of gold. Cloud Gait is a pastel turqoise. DDDevilish is a hot pink and Plum Princess is a pastel lavender plum.
Most importantly, the MAC X Chris Chang lipstick has some amazing packaging.
Below are some quick swatches I took:
Overall, I think this is a great collection if you are craving some color. Colors like Cloud Gait aren’t necessarily super wearable, but are fun nevertheless.

Hello, class! Was anyone else kind of excited to see that MAC had come out with a new lip stain? Or as they put it, “the ultimate fusion of gloss and stain.” Obviously, we are talking about the new Versicolour Stain, which is now available online and in stores. The Versicolour line currently contains 16 shades ranging from nude to deep purple.
I’ve had the pleasure of trying out the Versicolour shade “Ceaseless Energy” which is a bright raspberry pink. The product comes in a cylindrical tube and is applied with a large doe-foot applicator.
Ceaseless Energy is a beautiful cool pink. It applies very smoothly and with great pigmentation for a stain/gloss. I found it too feel a bit heavy on the lips, but this faded overtime, as did the glossiness. However, this left a beautiful stain that did not fade awkwardly (a huge plus in my book!)
I was able to wear this product all day. I did reapply about once every 2 or three hours, but that was just to touch-up the glossiness factor. It did not dry out my lips excessively, which is good.
Overall, I’m really enjoying the Versicolour Stain so far and would like to try more in the future. I think it is a great summer alternative to some of the heavier liquid lipsticks. I would love to hear your opinion in the comments, and feel free to link to your own swatches. Thanks!
