When I found out I would be receiving the new Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners, I nearly jumped for joy. Having been in the market for some new liners, I was grateful for the opportunity to try out this new line and be able to share my thoughts with you.

There are 14 shades in the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner range, though one is technically clear. The pigmented colors range from nude to deep chocolate brown to bright violet. As with any lip liner, these are meant to create a defined lip and lock lip color in place.

I typically fill in my whole lip with liner, because I very much dislike the “liner look.” Using the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners this way helps keep the lipstick from travelling. I also enjoy using these liners under a clear gloss or sheer balm.

These new lip liners come in a plastic casing with a portion that rotates at the bottom to advance and retract the pencil. They apply very smoothly. However, I would caution you to not advance too much product as it may break off if you apply too much pressure! The formula is comfortable and neither moisturizing nor drying.

I have already incorporated these liners into my daily routine. Since they are available online as well as in many stores, you can start using them too!

If I had to recommend just a couple of shades, I would say that Dusty Rose, Rich Chocolate, and Wild Violets are my favorites. And don’t forget the Clear “shade” to use as a primer and to lock lipstick in place!

The Colossal Big Shot Express Mascara, 24Karat Nudes Palette, Master Precise Liquid Ink Pen Eyeliner

Hello, class! Today we get to take a peak at some new Maybelline products that I was lucky enough to get to play with. As you know, I consider myself to be a “high-end” product aficionado, so the chance to experiment with “drug store” makeup and review it for you was a real treat.

Let’s start with the mascara. The Colossal Big Shot Express Mascara is a volumizing formula that is meant to lift and separate in one coat (I guess that’s the “express” part!) The brush is really unique – it has little dips and wavy bristles to maximize the application of the formula to the lashes. I loved the shape of the brush and the fact that this mascara did not clump at all!

Next, we’ll talk about the Master Precise Liquid Ink Pen Eye Liner. This features a “breakthrough hyper-sharp 0.4mm tip” to allow for precise application against the lash line. I loved the opacity of this formula – one swipe was enough for a deep black line. The felt tip was also fairly easy to use in comparison to many other liquid liners I have tried.

24k Nudes

The most exciting product of the new releases is by far the 24karat Nudes Palette. This eye shadow palette has 12 shadows ranging from shades of soft linen to deep black. Some of the shadows are matte and others have shimmer. For me, the highlights of this palette are the gold shade, the purple, and the black with shimmer. I love that the back of this palette has suggestions for its use, including quads, trios and duos. Or, you can just mix and match as I did.

I used all three products in this post for an eye look, so you could get an idea of their performance:

As you can see, the shadows apply and blend fairly well.  They performed better than I expected for a “drugstore” palette, but not as well as my palettes that would be at least three times the price. The mascara is phenomenal for my teeny tiny lashes and I would consider purchasing it in the future. The liner is bold and precise, though it did take my wobbly hand a couple of tries on my right eye (there’s always an issue with one eye, amiright?!)
