]]>Let’s start off summer with the bronze palette to end all bronze palettes. The Natasha Denona Bronze Palette was released on June 23rd, and since I received mine incredibly quickly (thanks Beautylish!) I thought I’d push out my swatches super fast in case anyone is looking for more information prior to purchasing.
With all that in mind, I’ll keep the writing here brief. This is a good palette. The shimmers are solid and not at all “crumbly.” The mattes are pigmented and blendable. The color story is versatile enough for any type of look. I can easily see the Bronze Palette becoming a mainstay of my vast collection. I believe this palette is of similar quality to previous Natasha Denona releases.
The swatches below were done with a stiff, synthetic brush over bare skin (no primer). I do use a stencil because I have a very unsteady hand!
As you can see, this is a palette for the lover of warm tones. However, it is not overly red like so many warm palettes tend to be. Given the moderate price, I believe the Natasha Denona Bronze Palette is a fantastic option for anyone looking to spruce up their collection this summer.
The Natasha Denona Bronze Palette is available at mutliple places, including Sephora, Beautylish and Natasha Denona’s site.

Natasha Denona has been non-stop with the new releases (like the Gold Palette, Safari Palette, Mini Star Palette, etc.) At least this holiday release is her 5 pan size, making it significantly less pricey than one of the giant palettes! Let’s talk about the Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette, shall we? It features four new shades, and one repeat from last year’s Aeris Palette. I am always excited to see reds and cranberries, so those shades definitely drew me in.
As I’m sure you can imagine, the Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette is not your everyday neutral go-to. The three lighter shades are packed with shimmer and glitter. This is a palette you pick up if you want to make a statement. That statement is “look at me!”
As you can see, the Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette has some gorgeous shade options. But here’s the rub- while the shimmery shades literally shine, the red and the cranberry leave a lot to be desired. Using a brush will require a lot of building up. How about your finger? While your fingertip will be packed with color, the payoff on your lid will, for some reason, be mediocre. This can actually be a good thing if the deep shades intimidate you and you want a light wash of color. But I personally expect more from Natasha Denona’s shadows.
So do you need this palette? Not at all. But you might still want it if you are into the color scheme and are willing to work with it. It would also make a lovely gift for a makeup-loving friend.

Hello, friends! This is going to be a quick, photo-heavy post for the purpose of showing you the new Natasha Denona Gold Palette. This addition to Natasha Denona’s palette offerings features fifteen shades in a heavy, magnetic-closure component similar to that of the Lila and Sunset palettes.
The Gold Palette, while heavy in the gold shades, of course, also offers a variety of shades that work in tandem with the golds to create any look you can imagine. Some shades have matte finishes while others are metallic or “sparkling.” Let me show you…
As you can see, the matte shades show a lot of pigmentation. They are soft but not overly powdery, exactly what we expect based on the shadows in previous palettes. Sparks and Cava, the “sparkling” formula, are best suited as toppers rather than standalone shades. The blue shades – Python and Aurora- are not overly cool-toned and should be beautiful on most skin tones.
So far I am having a lot of fun playing with the Natasha Denona Gold Palette. It is currently available at Sephora and Beautylish.

]]>Hello, class! Today I have the perfect beauty item to add to your routine for the holidays. The Natasha Denona Chroma Crystal Top Coats add just the right of sparkle to glam up your everyday look. As you know, I have a long history of loving Natasha Denona products.
There are six shades of Chroma Crystal Top Coats available, and I have two to show you. I was drawn to “Nude” and “Grey Brown,” the two cooler shades in the collection. This product can be used on bare lids, as an eye shadow topper, or on the lips for a dazzling effect.
Based on Natasha Denona’s Chroma Crystal eyeshadows, this product is creamy to the touch and gives your look a natural, lustrous glass effect due to its pure pigments, real crushed pearls, and chroma crystals. — Sephora.com
The Natash Denona Chroma Crystal Top Coats come in little frosted jars (0.2oz) with plastic screw lids. The top coats are intensely shimmery. They feel creamy to the touch, yet firm. When applied with the finger, the product produces a glossy effect. Below, you will see Grey Brown on the left, and Nude on the right.
My favorite way to apply the Chroma Crystal Top Coats are with a finger over bare lids. The shimmer is not too overwhelming for daytime, and when paired with a black winged liner and a bold lip, it yields a classic, polished look. I have worn one or both of these top coats at least four days out of the week since they arrived! If I had to pick between the two colors, Grey Brown is my favorite as it just looks somewhat glossier.
You can find the Chroma Crystal Top Coats wherever Natasha Denona products are sold, including Sephora.

]]>Let me start off by saying I don’t have much to say, in that the photos included in this post should speak for themselves! Natasha Denona’s newest arrival, the Lila Palette, is a fifteen-pan array of eye shadow goodness. Centered around jewel-toned purples, it is sure to become the favorite of many.
I’ve had a lot of success with Natasha Denona shadows in the past so as you can imagine, I had high expectations for this newest beauty. The fifteen shades come in four finishes: matte, duo-chrome, metallic and chroma crystal. I’m going to included shade descriptions, below, which I’ve stolen directly from Beautylish:
- Per Se 135 CM: Smoky lilac with a Creamy Matte finish
- Viola 136 M: Magenta violet with a Metallic finish
- Amara 137 CM: Rusty berry with a Creamy Matte finish
- Cyclone 138 DC: Pink copper with a Duo-Chrome finish
- Nude Vino 139 CM: Tan mauve with a Creamy Matte finish
- Layla 140 M: Deep brown mauve with a Metallic finish
- Amethyst 141 M: Cool purple with a Metallic finish
- Magnetic 142 M: Bright fuchsia with a Metallic finish
- Magnolia 143 K: Peach champagne with a Chroma Crystal finish
- Nude Mauve 144 CM: Dusty mauve with a Creamy Matte finish
- Juneau 145 S: Sheer icy lavender with a Metallic finish
- Livid 146 DC: Silver amethyst with a Duo-Chrome finish
- Purpure 147 M: Berry burgundy with a Metallic finish
- Dragon Bite 148 DC: Green red with a Duo-Chrome finish
- Helio 149 M: Soft rose with a Metallic finish
I had a lot of fun swatching this palette. As always, swatches were completed with a flat synthetic eyeshadow brush. No primer was used for these swatches.
At $129, this is not what one might call “affordable” or even “a good deal.” However, this is a quality palette that feels sturdy and will last a while. So be sure to take a peak if you’re in a “treat yo’self” mood!

]]>The post Sephora Sale 2016 Recommendations appeared first on This teacher wears makeup..
]]>So, class, here’s the scoop. Sephora’s annual holiday sale is going on from 11/4-11/7 for VIBRouge in-store and online with the code 20ROUGE. VIBs get early access from 11/11-11/14 (code- 20VIB). Both VIB Rouge and VIB receive 20% off their purchases during this time. I believe I also read that VIB Rouges who shop in-store on 11/4 receive a holiday tote bag.
Now, let’s talk about what you need to buy. My feelings are that because 20% off is the best you’re ever really going to do at Sephora, now is the time to purchase those staples that you keep returning for, and a couple of higher-priced goodies that you’ve been waiting to purchase. Let me therefore share with you some of my recommendations for “high-end” goodies. I’ve even done the math for you to tell you how much you’re saving, based on prices in the U.S. Because I’m nice like that.
Finally, before we go on, please note that many of the links are affiliate links, which means if you click through, I get like $0.01. Or, if you click through and buy something, maybe I get a dollar. But, if that makes you uncomfortable, by all means just go to the Sephora page and type in the product name! Also, I stole all these photos from the Sephora site. Hope that’s cool, everyone.
Natasha Denona Palette 28 or Palette 5 (online only)- So here’s the thing. The 28 pan Natasha Denona palette is crazy expensive. Therefore, if you’re ever going to purchase one of these palettes (there are two – green/brown, and purple/blue) now is the time to do it. Originally $239 you will save $47.80 and pay $191.20. If this is still to pricey, and it very well should be, but you want to try out the amazing formula, go ahead and get one of the 5 pan palettes. I personally have #10 and it is amazing. Normally this is $48 but you will save $9.60 and pay $38.40.
Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette – This recommendation comes from Rachel, another teacher who wears makeup. This is a perfect neutral palette with a variety of creamy, wearable colors. Normally $55, you will save $11 and pay $44.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – Another recommendation from the other teacher Rachel, Roller Lash is one of her favorite mascaras. I, too, enjoy using it. This mascara is usually $24, but with $4.80 off you will pay $19.20.
Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation – If you haven’t tried this yet, what are you waiting for? Reviewed here. Normally $48 you will save $9.60 and pay $38.40.
CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops – I have Celestial and it is AMAZING. If you are darker complected, you may also enjoy some of the other shades. Or get them all! This is normally $42 and you will save $8.40 and spend $33.60.
Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow – This is the most amazing yet subtle highlighter I own. If you’re in the market for a new highlight, get this! Usually $46 you will save $9.20 and pay $36.80.
NARS Narsissist Dual-Intensity Cheek Palette – Featuring four amazing dual-intensity shades, this palette is everything you need in a blush/bronzer/highlight compact. This one is limited edition, and I swatched it here. Normally $59, save $11.80 pay $47.20.
Bite Beauty Multistick – There are so many amazing shades, but I am partial to Nectar, a beautiful purple. This is for those days when you’re feeling monochromatic. Slap it on your eyes, cheeks and even your lips. Swatched here. Normally goes for $24 you can save $4.80 and pay $19.20.
Beauty Blender Blotterazzi – You will never need blotting papers ever again. You’re welcome. Usually $20, save $4 and pay $16.
Honestly, if you want to just stop at one lipstick display and find every shade and finish to suit your needs, just go to the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick area. I’m partial to Big Bang, Studded, Carnal, Wildfire and Backtalk. But there are so many wonderful colors you’re going to be shopping for a long time. Normal price $17, save $3.40, spend $13.60.
Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner – This is an amazing toner if you’re prone to oily skin, large pores, or blemishes. It feels incredibly refreshing and seems to do its job. But it’s normally $55 so now’s the time to save $11 and get it for $44.
Dr. Jart+ PORE MEDIC Derma @ home peeling – I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this discussed on social media but it is absolutely one of my favorite skin treatments. It is a two step peel that diminishes pores and brightens the complexion. I can’t recommend it enough! Normally $42, save $8.40 during the sale and spend $33.60.
Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder – Part dry shampoo, part styling powder, this is one of my favorite hair products of all time. The white powder disappears into the hair and adds a grit that reduces oiliness and adds grip for more voluminous hair styles. Get it reduced from $27 by $5.40 to $21.60.
Well, there you go! Those are my recommendations! But I’d love to hear yours (and I know you have many). Share them with the class in the comments!

]]>Hello again, class! One of my favorite posts to write each month is the beauty favorites list. I really enjoy reflecting upon the month and thinking back to which products have really been on my face for the most days. Let me show you what March was all about:
IT Cosmetics Build-A-Brow – It feels like every month I have another IT brow product to show you. Probably because that’s been the case since the blog got relocated! I wrote about the Build-A-Brow here, and it may be my favorite brow gel ever!
Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation – This is by no means a recent purchase, but I’ve found myself going back to this reliable base. It is quite full-coverage but does not get cakey or patchy throughout the day.
Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 28 “Green Brown” – Yes, this is perhaps the most unimaginative name for a palette. However, this palette is a superstar. It contains the most luxurious shadows in all shades. Don’t let the “Green Brown” name fool you – there are colors ranging from pure gold to light teal to burnt orange. PS – I got mine from Beautylish and they always have the best shipping.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish “Soft & Gentle“ – Described as a “gilded peach bronze” this highlighter is one that I always find myself going back to. It brightens the cheekbones without making one look like a disco ball.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick “Honeycomb” – I was wavering on this color when I first wrote about it but it has quickly become my new favorite nude. The formula is comfortable and lasts quite a while considering it is not a matte formula.
I hope you will share some of your favorites in the comments!

Good morning, class! I’m so excited to share my January Favorites with you today. I hope you will share links to your January Favorites in the comments!
Let’s start with eye shadow! This month I’m featuring two palettes, both very different but equally fun.
The Natasha Denona 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette #10 has an amazing assortment of golds and purples. I swatched them all for you here.
I’ve also been quite obsessed with the Lime Crime Venus 2 Palette. It has such unique shades (swatched here) that I keep gravitating to, especially “Fly” and “Poison.”
I really like the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter as my winter primer. It adds a subtle glow that shines through any foundation, but does not exacerbate oiliness. Another BECCA product made the cut this month – the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone. This is an old favorite for me, but I’ve been reaching for it recently due to my current lack of tan.
For my brows, I’ve had a lot of success with the It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil. It has that nice wedge shape that allows for easy drawing and more natural strokes. The color is fine for matching my brown brows to my blonde hair.
Finally, I’ve been loving the new MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour, especially in the shade Lady Be Good. Many nude lipsticks lean either too peachy or too dead on me, but this one is perfect. It lasts forever and luckily does not feel super drying on.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will share a link to you January Favorites in the comments!

]]>These palettes are coming soon to Beautylish (though currently available on Natasha Denona’s site). I thought you might like to see it up close to help with future tough decisions!
The #10 Palette has 5 shades. All of these are also available as singles, so I’ve looked up what finish they are. The shade descriptions are my own… so they may not be accurate. Take a look at the photo since your eyes are probably better than mine!
75P Satin Skin (metallic) – rose gold
49M Vintage (duo chrome)- a medium plum with a silver and pink shift
24V Aubergine (matte) – ok this one is easy…. aubergine
20M True Gold (sparkling) – gold. just plain gold
82V Nina’s Orchid (matte) – bright purple-fuschia (PS – I do not agree that this one is matte – it definitely has some sparkle to it!)
I did these quick swatches outside; it was somewhat overcast. No primer was used. And yes, this was a single finger swipe (even that gold!!!)
OK, so how gorgeous are those shades? As far as palettes go, the only thing I’m missing is a shade for the brow bone. But otherwise, this is fantastic. All of the shades were very smooth. The gold was softer than I expected, which is why I picked up such a big chunk with my finger!
I tried it out quickly this morning and this is was I came up with:
As you can see, it’s a great option for green and hazel eyes. I noticed the gold shade had a bit of fallout, as you might expect. The other shades were very easy to work with.
So what do you think – will you be adding this to your makeup wishlist?
Check out some other eyeshadow swatches here.

]]>I thought it might be fun to share what I got!
Bioderma Sebium H20 (100mL) – I have this already from another Beautylish haul but I’ve definitely considered repurchasing. Now I don’t have to! ($6.95)
Jefree Star Velour Lip Scrub – This is an item I never considered purchasing, but I do enjoy a good lip scrub. ($12)
It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil – The idea of a “universal” color always makes me nervous. With my highlighted hair, I try to keep my brows as cool as possible, and browns are frequently warm. I did, however, test this out and the shade is totally fine! It’s perhaps a bit darker than I’m used to, but still manageable. ($24)
Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl in Marlene Midnight – I love a good deep navy eye pencil! I’ve used this brand and line before, but never this color. I love the formula so this was an excellent surprise. ($27)
Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Patrice – I never have much luck with the application of cream blushes, but this one just may be my new favorite. The deep red color blends out to a really subtle and attractive crimson flush. ($26)
BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector – A few weeks ago I had to decide if I wanted this or their Backlight Priming Filter. I went with the latter, but I’m so glad I now can add the former to my collection. I tested this out this morning and it may be the most mattifying product I’ve ever used. ($36)
Natasha Denona Eye Shadow Palette 5, palette #10 – This item isn’t even for sale yet on Beautylish, but it may just be my favorite Lucky Bag item! I’m not going to go into great detail because my next post will be full of swatches. This retails on Natasha’s own website for $48.
In total, my bag 2016 Beautylish Lucky Bag was worth $179.95, which means I had a savings of $104.95. As one of my biggest hauls during the year, this definitely holds a good value still and I will consider going in for next year’s Beautylish lucky bag when the time comes! I also highly recommend Beautylish in general because they offer some really nice brands and fantastic customer service.
I hope you will share what you received. Please post your links in the comments!
