Good morning, class! I have a huge announcement for you! Hourglass now lets you customize your own Ambient Lighting Palette!
I know, I know – I may sound a little too excited. But this is a big deal. Let’s discuss why.
First of all, the ambient lighting powders are amazing. They are basically finishing powders that mimic different light sources and blur imperfections. The original Ambient Lighting Palette contains Dim Light (neutral peach), Incandescent Light (opalescent pearl) and Radiant Light (golden beige). That palette was one of my first Sephora purchases! However, over the years I’ve decided that Dim Light is not great for my skin tone and Radiant Light only really works for me in the summer.
Enter the new custom Ambient Lighting Palette. For just $8 more on Hourglass’ website, you can choose three out of these six powders:
• DIFFUSED LIGHT: A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity—like a soft ray of morning light.
• DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones.
• ETHEREAL LIGHT: An opalescent sheer, cool white powder that mimics a moonlit glow—even in broad daylight.
• LUMINOUS LIGHT: A champagne pearl powder that creates a soft, incandescent candlelit glow—day or night.
• MOOD LIGHT: A soft, sheer lavender pink powder that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion.
• RADIANT LIGHT: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow.
Naturally, I had to try this out.
I chose Ethereal Light, Diffused Light and Mood Light. These seemed like the best options for my coloring and I am very pleased with the way my custom palette looks.
I have used the powders a few times and they perform just as you’d expect – fabulously. Stay tuned for swatches of all my ambien lighting powders at a later date!
What do you think? Would you create a custom Ambient Lighting Palette for yourself?

]]>[may contain affiliate links] Well, it’s been a pretty MAC-tacular week! First we had the It’s A Strike goodies. Now we have the collection I’ve been waiting for all year: Star Trek. The MAC Star Trek collection is pretty meaningful to me since I’ve been watching the various Star Trek series since I was little. So naturally, I had to acquire all of the lip products to swatch for you.
Let’s start with the lipsticks! There are four MAC Star Trek lipsticks and all are shimmery to some extent.
Where No Man Has Gone Before (Lustre) – pink with gold pearl
Klingiton (Frost) – deep purple with fine pink glitter
LLAP (Frost) – icy rose champagne
The Enemy Within (Frost) – neutral gold shimmer
In my opinion, the lipglasses are the true stars of the MAC Star Trek products (no pun intended!)
KHAAANNN! – berry with red reflect
Set To Stun – light silver with gold pearl
Warp Speed Ahead – plum with blue and pink reflects
Pleasure Plant – muted gold shimmer
There are also three unique-looking powders (Trip The Light Fantastic Powders, to be exact), though I only have one to show you.
Luna Luster – sheer wash of soft rose shimmer
Basically, my arm was a glitter-fest when I was done swatching!
All of the MAC Star Trek products feature the Star Trek logo in metallic silver. I highly recommend picking a few of these items up if you are lacking in the sparkle department!

[may contain affiliate links] Hello beautiful class! Today we’re doing just a quick synopsis of a couple of items from MAC’s new collection. The MAC It’s A Strike features bowling-related items ranging from shadows to lipsticks to nail polish. I hunted down two lipsticks and a powder from this collection to swatch for you.
The pearlmatte face powder contains pearlized and satin shades for both a blush and highlighting effect. Two white bowling pins sit atop a pink background and next to a green ball. All of these shades swatch their respective colors and can be swirled together for a beautiful sheen. Please note that the red on the pins is an overspray and will be gone after your first use.
Babes and Balls is a deep burgundy, matte lipstick. This shade is limited edition and an online exclusive. The other shade of lipstick I have from the MAC It’s A Strike line is Liquid Lurex. This is a a “tarnished golden” dazzle finish (which I think was MAC’s original glitter formula) and it is utterly fantastic.
Sadly, my swatches didn’t pick up that Liquid Lurex has a sort of pink shift to it. It’s beautiful.
Overall, the MAC It’s A Strike collection has some cute items, with the bowling ball and pins powder being the most unique aesthetically. Be sure to get what you want before these items are gone!
