One of these days I’ll need to take a highlighter inventory. Today is not that day. But I will be talking about a glorious piece of art: the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Lace Illuminator. Currently there is only one shade available, Ballerina, which is a shade you’ll also find in Laura Geller’s swirl illuminator collection. It can be described as a rose gold, and has a fair amount of shimmer.

The Laura Geller Baked Gelato Lace Illuminator is currently available online at Ulta. Its 3D design is meant to mimic the look of Italian lace and supposedly last until the very end!

I thought I’d swatch it for you next to some other popular highlighters. My initial belief was that Ballerina would be a close dupe for MAC Soft & Gentle or BECCA Champagne Pop. Boy, was I wrong!

As you can see, the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Lace Illuminator in Ballerina is quite dark on me (MAC NC20). However, if you don’t place it too high up on your cheekbones it can still look like a natural summertime glow!

Hello class! Based on some Instagram conversations, it seems like some people may be holding off on purchasing the Moonchild Glow Kit (discussed here) because they are not sure if it differs enough from the Gleam Glow Kit (swatched here). I created a brief swatch comparison for your viewing pleasure, and to help you decide if you happen to also be in this predicament.

Below you will see Moonchild Glow Kit on the left and Gleam Glow Kit on the right.

As you can see, Moonchild is significantly cooler-toned than Gleam, as well as lighter in general. In fact, two of the Gleam shades are too dark for me to use as a classic highlight.

Here is a little video, which I think helps show the true colors:

So, my unprofessional opinion is that yes, it is worth getting Moonchild even if you have Gleam. But, I would love to hear your opinion, too!

Hello, my name is Rachel and today I’m here to tell you about what is possibly the most beautiful highlight palette ever created. Yes, class, I am obviously talking about Anastasia Beverly Hills’ new Moonchild Glow Kit. My understanding is that this palette is only available online. Don’t let that deter you if you’re someone that likes to touch before buying. Let me share some info and photos with you to help you decide if you need it.

According to Anastasia Beverly Hills, this palette contains:

Magically-Metallic highlighters that offer a celestial skin finish. Layer shades of Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, together or sweep them separately on face, eyes and body for a kaleidoscopic, shimmering effect.

The Moonchild Glow Kit has 6 shades, which is two more than the previous Glow Kits.

Blue Ice – Diamond white with an icy blue reflect
Star – A moonstone fusion of mint, platinum and silver reflect
Purple Horseshoe – A glittering lavender with an arctic blue reflect
Pink Heart – Pearl white with a pink opal reflect
Lucky Clover – A shamrock-infused gold with canary yellow diamond reflect
Blue Moon – Frozen blue with a silver reflect

I haven’t had a chance to play much yet, but I did have an opportunity to take some photos for you!

As you can see, many of these colors are fairly unique to the highlighter world.

I will update you on the performance of these powders after I’ve had a chance to work with them!

Hello lovely class! Today will be just a brief swatch of the new Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Mint Condition. As you may know, Jeffree Star recently released four Skin Frosts (aka highlighters). These include King Tut, a bronze, Peach Goddess (no description necessary, right?), Ice Cold, a pure white and Mint Condition.

Mint Condition is, as its name suggests, a mint-hued highlighter. Somewhere between green and blue, this highlighter is astonishing both for its unique color and its pan size. Coming in at a whopping .53 oz, the Jeffree Star Skin Frosts are nearly double the size of many popular highlighters including BECCA (.28 oz) and Hourglass (.35 oz).

When swatched, Jeffree Star Mint Condition is somewhat less green-blue than in the pan. However, there is still enough coolness to get that mermaid highlight that you’ve always desired. Want less of a frostbitten look? Then just blend it out a little for a cool-toned, but somewhat more natural, highlight.

The Jeffree Star Skin Frosts are sold out on most online retailers, but social media information seems to point to a restock within the next week or so. Keep your eyes peeled!

“Gleam”

Hello, class! Imagine my surprise this morning when I passed by Sephora and found that one of the shelves had been converted into a shrine of all things Anastasia Beverly Hills. Now, I had no intention of ever even touching this powder highlighter palette, however, I was immediately impressed by the size of the pans. I guess all the photos on Instagram made the palettes seem so small to me – but they are not! You basically get your hands on four full size highlighter shades. There are two Glow Kits available – “Gleam” and “That Glow.” I thought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Gleam suited my fairer skin better, though I do think “That Glow” would be great for a bronze-y look.

Sephora describes the four shades in the Gleam palette:

Hard Candy: A mood-changing golden peach with a pink pearl reflective finish.
Starburst: A rush of cool pink with an iridescent finish.
Crushed Pearl: A glimmering pink and silver with a crystalized chrome finish.
Mimosa: A radiant golden peach with a metallic finish.

As you can see, the shades have a nice variety to them. They also feel buttery smooth!
