Well hello there, class. I am currently snowed-in, thanks to Winter Storm Jonas. I thought this would be an appropriate time to make some recommendations for products suited for this winter weather. Here are some of my cold weather favorites!
Let’s start with the pre-makeup routine. After cleansing, I love to apply the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid. This light serum locks in moisture all day and absorbs quickly, making it perfect for both morning and night. I use it daily.
A great foundation option is the It Cosmetics CC+ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation. This is the first “cushion compact” I’ve tried and I very much enjoy the ease of application and light coverage. It contains moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, protecting the skin from the winter air.
For a light contour and/or bronzing, I like the Nudestix Bronzing Pencil in Golden Sugar and Earth. The dual-ended pencil has a matte shade and a more satin shade, making it perfect for both a light contour and faking a touch of sun in the winter. The pencil’s creaminess is perfect to fight the drying effects of the cold weather.
For rosy cheeks, I suggest Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Patrice. This crimson shade looks a bit intimidating, I admit, but a couple of dabs on the cheek bones blended out with a beauty blender is the perfect winter flush. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cheek products since I received it in my Beautylish Lucky Bag.
For a sheer, red lip I enjoy Lipstick Queen Medieval Lipstick. It is perfect if your lips are feeling a bit dry or chapped.
For very dry or chapped lips, go with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. I find it to be incredibly soothing. And as an added bonus – it smells like cupcakes!
Well, now I’m off the clean up the mess I made when my hot chocolate boiled over! Please share your cold weather favorites in the comments!

]]>Class, as I write this my most-read post ever is the one where I compared the LORAC Pro Contour to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette. It must be a popular search or something!Today, I want to add another product to that comparison. This product, however, is just a contour powder. Just one shade, no highlighters. I still think it’s worth it. I present “The Sculpting Powder” by Kevyn Aucoin:
While the differences between these shades do not seem huge, any fair girl can attest to the fact that the less orange a contour shade is, the better.
And as far as not being part of a palette goes, the K.A. is certainly more portable because of this fact. I mean, we use so many different highlights anyway, why not mix and match?
I hope this helps if you’re in the market for a new contour powder!
