The packaging is sleek and fun. Housed in a shiny purple (or is it pink?) component with the signature lip shape in the middle, these lipsticks are a tiny bit thinner than PatMcGrath’s traditional “mattetrance” and “luxetrance” products. The Divinyl Lip Shine is heavy enough to feel substantial, but is not the weightiest lipstick I’ve held.
You can purchase the Divinyl Lip Shine products as singles (Sephora has them!), in trios, or in the full set (on Pat McGrath’s site – be sure to use Rakuten for cash back if you go this route!) As usual, the trios are grouped into “Skin Show” and “Colour Blitz” options, though I personally feel all except for one shade are fairly “colorful.”
Now, for the swatches! You’ll see below that all the shades are shiny, as expected. The Divinyl Lip Shine shades are pigmented enough to show up in one swipe, but not to the point where the bolder shades are intimidating. Feel free to visit this Instagram post if you want to see a video of me trying them all on!
I’ve now worn the Divinyl Lip Shine shades now for a couple of days. I can safely say that this is one of my favorite lip products of the whole year. I find them to be similar in texture to Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks, but more moisturizing and slightly longer lasting. They do remain glossy during wear, and are comfortable throughout. This will not be the product for you if you aim for longevity. However, it is a great option if you anticipate needing to swipe something on quickly after removing your mask. These shades are also great to brighten up the face for a Zoom call! At $36 a piece, you do want to make sure this is an item you’ll grab frequently. And do make note, since the trio is $92 and the set is $184, you actually get a better deal by buying in “bulk.”

Hello, class!
I am too excited about MAC’s new lip product to wait any longer to talk about it! They recently released a gloss called the Grand Illusion Glossy Liquid Lipcolour:
Swipe on futuristic sheen with this exclusive holographic lip colour packed with iridescent pearls, then be transfixed by the refreshing cooling sensation that makes lips feel instantly fuller. – maccosmetics.com
Before we get into detail, I would argue that some of the MAC Grand Illusion lip colours are actually duo/multi-chromatic and not so much holographic. My experience with them is that they shift color depending on the light, rather than project any sort of three dimensional effect. But I could be getting my terms wrong…
Anyway, I chose to try the shades Let’s Rock and Electric Rainbow. Let’s Rock is a coppery orange with green and yellow reflect. Electric Rainbow is an opalescent pink with gold reflect. There is a vast multitude of other shades available, including green!
The MAC Grand Illusion lip colours fall somewhere in between a gloss and a traditional (non-matte) liquid lip. They are quite pigmented and can be worn on their own or over liner or a lipstick of your choice.
I was especially surprised by the “cooling sensation.” I never expected such a minty effect in a MAC product, but I don’t hate it. It actually is quite refreshing!
The MAC Grand Illusion comes in clear tubes with a black tapered screw top, similar to the retro matte liquid lip colors.
As you can see, these glosses swatch beautifully:
This is a thicker formula and as such, it can last a few hours before reapplication is necessary. It feels creamy on the lips, and as I mentioned earlier, a little tingly and refreshing.
For the icing on the cake, here is a video of the swatches:
Have I convinced you yet? If so, take a peak here for all of the color options!
Be sure to let me know what you think of these, and if you pick any up!

]]>Hello, class! I am excited to tell you about one of my favorite excursions this summer, which was to visit the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Manhattan. I have been wanting to try out this experience for years, and was thrilled when my friends (hi Adam and Rachel!) said they would go into the city with me. Bite Beauty is one of my favorite brands as we’ve seen here and here and here.
There are currently three Bite Beauty Lip Lab locations- San Francisco, Toronto and New York City. The NYC location is obviously the only convenient location for me. It is in SoHo at 174 Prince Street.
Rather than just list my experience, I want to provide you with a little guidebook, per say, in case you ever make it to one of the Bite Beauty Lip Lab locations:
Make an appointment.
Make an appointment.
Make an appointment.
Make an appointment.
Got it? I am stressing this because we saw a number of people get turned away. While there may be days when walk-ins are accepted or when someone on the wait-list gets called because there is a last-minute cancellation, it will not likely be the day you try to get in.
I booked an appointment for two people about three weeks in advance without an issue. I had a choice of times and the employee on the phone was incredibly polite. Visit the Bite Beauty Lip Lab website if you’d like to look up the phone number for your nearest location.
I don’t know about the other cities, but New York is a mess. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your chosen Lip Lab because if you miss your time slot, chances are you’re not going get a chance later.
Just a little story to go along with this message:
The three of us arrived about an hour early, which was awesome, especially because it turns out they were filming a TV show right on Prince Street and we were only allowed to access the store between takes!
There are two options for your Bite Beauty Lip Lab experience. The first is to make a “custom lipstick.” This means that you will chose from nearly 200 shades and combine your shade with the finish and scent of your choice. This option is $55 for one lipstick or two for $80.
The second experience is the “bespoke lipstick.” This means that your lip lab artist will work with you to create a unique shade by mixing pigments based on your preferences. As with the custom option, you get to also chose your finish and scent. The Bespoke Lipstick experience is $150 for two lipsticks as well as an exclusive lip kit.
The website lists different finish options for each experience:
Custom: glossy sheer, matte creme, amuse bouche (Bite’s standard finish at this point).
Bespoke: luminous, matte, sheer cuvée
The scent options are: cherry, mint, vanilla, citrus, mango, violet, coconut, wildberry and lime (the website says “fresh citrus” but when we went there was a lime option).
I like to think that Rachel and I were pretty easy customers. We both knew that we wanted the bespoke option (we were feeling very extra) and both of us are decidedly matte lipstick lovers. And we had some idea of the colors we wanted. Rachel requested a flattering nude for everyday use and her red. Our lip lab artist (forgive me, as I cannot remember her name!) mixed up colors like a true pro and found Rachel’s new lipstick shades within three attempts each.
My first request was a flattering pink. This was another easy feat for our artist. My second request, a grungy purple, was a little more difficult, therefore, we went through a number of grayish purples until we found the one.
Because your handmade lipsticks will need time to set, you should not expect to apply your lipstick directly from the bullet before you leave. While I kept on my purple lip, Rachel went back to her first shade, the nude.
On top of the whole process being very, very cool, this serves a greater purpose. You will receive a card with your custom formula so that you can re-make your lipstick if/when you run out and it is a good idea to take a photo of your formula so you never lose it!
I hope this guide helps you enjoy your first Bite Beauty Lip Lab experience. Additionally, If you have some tips, please share with the class by commenting!

]]>The post Urban Decay Little Vices Lipstick Kit appeared first on This teacher wears makeup..
]]>Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you today one of the new holiday sets for 2017. Urban Decay released their Little Vices Lipstick Kit and I think it is absolutely adorable and an amazing gift for a makeup newbie (or yourself!)
The Urban Decay Little Vices Lipstick Kit is a set of five miniature Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks. The Vice lipsticks are normally 3.4g and these minis are 1g each, so a little less than third of the standard size. This makes them ideal for testing out some new shades, and for being able to keep one in your pocket (why do we get such small pockets?)
The shades included in the Little Vices set are:
Violate – dusty purple with pink undertone (cream)
1993 – medium brown (comfort matte)
Double Crossed – matte berry with tonal shimmer (metallized)
Love Drunk – deep red with tonal shimmer (comfort matte)
Mad – bright purple shimmer (metallized)
I also love that you get to try a variety of Vice finishes in this set. I happen to be quite partial to the Metallized formula. While Double Crossed and Mad are currently exclusive to this set, the other three shades are part of the Vice line, which is great should you decide you need to purchase the full size.
As you can see, there’s a nice variety of colors to play with!
The best part about the Urban Decay Little Vices Lipstick Kit is the price. You can get your own set from Sephora for $25!

Hello, lovely classmates! I hope you are doing well as we head into the second half of summer! Were you as excited as I was about the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Nearly Neon collection? Let’s review the facts:
I picked up two shades to test for you: Nearly Neon Pink and Nearly Neon Peach. Orange, blue, purple and fuschia are also available.
The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Nearly Neon collection comes in Bite’s standard soft-touch black packaging. As always, these products are formulates without sulfates, phthalates and parabens. They have a citrus scent and are creamy to apply.
The basic idea of the Nearly Neon collection is that these are bright shades that still manage to be wearable. I happen to think this is true of Peach and Pink (I’m not sure if blue will ever be a “wearable” color for me, but that shouldn’t stop anyone else!) They do not have that white base that can sometimes make me look washed out and they have the comfort and lasting power of the Amuse Bouche formula that Bite is now known for.
Overall, I think the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Nearly Neon colors are worth checking out if you are in the market for a pop of color! Let me know what you think, especially if you happen to have picked up the blue or purple!

Hi again! Today I want to talk about one of my favorite sets that’s come out recently. This is the Nudestix Babeboss Faves Box, available at Sephora. Let me give you the description of this amazing collection right from the website:
This limited-edition #BABEBOSS Faves Box features six coveted lip pencils formulas. Handpicked by Nudesitx Co-founders, Ally and Taylor Frankel along with Nudestix Babebosses; @ssssamanthaa, @iamkareno, @lynettecenee, @saythelees, and @cydbee, this kit is ideal for the #BABEBOSS who knows the power of a gorgeous lip look.
This box is loaded with these lip favorites:
Ally & Taylor Frankel – Lip + Cheek Cream in Sin: the perfect rose nude for an added pop
@ssssamanthaa – Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm in Pulse: a glossy, nude that is ultra-moisturizing
@iamkareno – Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Color in Stiletto: a sexy, red-hot shade
@lynettecenee – Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Boho: a matte brown lip stain circa ‘60’s
@saythelees – Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Color in Purity: a soft matte, natural nude lip
@cydbee – Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Burgundy: a 60’s inspired rich matte corduroy
Since I’ve been having such a love affair with the Magnetic Matte lip, I thought it would be nice to get a few more colors and try more formulas, as well. Keep in mind that you are getting all six for $59, which is less than half the total value if you were to buy each product individually.
Ready for the swatches? Of course you are.
As you can see, and as I expected, all of the pencils are highly pigmented and creamy. Even the matte formulas glide on easily.
Sin, Pulse, and Stilleto are great for the summer. I’m looking forward to wearing Boho, Purity and Burgundy in the fall!
Have you tried any pencils from the Nudestix Babeboss Faves Box? Tell me in the comments, please!

Hello, my friends. Today we are taking a quick look at a couple of shades of what I consider Nudestix’s best lip product. The Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color comes in pencil form, like most of their other products, and is sent in a cute little Nudestix tin with a sharpener.
I’m going to steal the Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color right from Sephora’s website:
What it is:
A multitasking, three-in-one, lip stain, lip color, and lip liner that glides on high performance, intense color in must-have, rich nude shades. What it does:
These long-lasting, touch n’go makeup sticks create bold nude lip looks with kiss-proof color. Let Magnetic Matte Lip Color take your lip look from day to night with nine-hour wear so you can go matte all day long. This non-drying, waterproof matte lipstick applies smoothly and will not budge. Its innovative formula means that it’s non-feathering, and its intense pigment load provides maximum, smooth coverage to easily take any lip look from the office to the runway.
I tried two shades: Rose and Greystone. Rose is described as “mystic meets love”, which I believe is a reference to their lip and cheek pencils that are nude and pink, and Greystone as “greige.” Unlike many other intensely matte lipsticks, the Magnetic Matte Lip Color applies like the most luxurious cream. Within a few seconds of application, it dries down completely matte and budge-proof.
These lipsticks do feel very dry on the lips. That being said, I don’t find that my lips are actually dry afterwards. Additionally, there is a little bit of fade after eating greasy foods and this is noticeable especially with the darker color of Greystone. Still, this is one of my favorite lipstick shades ever.
I highly recommend checking out the Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color pencils either online, or next time you are in Sephora! I think I may need to try some more of the colors!

]]>Let’s talk about what this new Art Stick Liquid Lip is. According to the description on Sephora, this product is:
A super-pigmented, eight-hour wear, creamy liquid lipstick in a squeezable tube.
Easy enough, right? Let’s talk about the colors I tested. I wanted to try an everyday color and a brighter color. Therefore, I chose Pink Heather, a rich neutral berry and Papaya, a bright orange coral.
The Art Stick Liquid Lip comes in a squeezy tube, which confuses me sometimes because I keep trying to twist the bottom when there is nothing to twist. The applicator is a hard plastic, which allows for precise application though it can be tricky to spread the product. The product itself, though, is pigmented and opaque.
The Art Stick Liquid Lip does not dry down. It has a semi-matte finish. I find this product to be incredibly similar to the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lips Tars. Therefore, I would predict that these are long lasting, but not transfer proof. I’ll update you when I’ve had a chance to test the longevity!
The Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip is available at Sephora for those of you who also like to earn points there!

Oh, hello there, class. Today we are looking at a product that Bite Beauty sent me through Influenster. Now, my opinion is never ever swayed by getting things for free- you know that. You can also rest easy, because I have used this product for years before ever getting it as a freebie! We are talking about the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon.
I was sent three shades of the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon- Glacé, Cava, and Red Velvet. Glace is a “dusty mauve,” Cava is a “lilac beige,” and Red Velvet is described as “rich, deep red.” Previously, I had used Glacé, Cognac and Pastille. Check out the Matte Creme Lip Crayon on Sephora to read about those.
I can tell you from experience that these lip crayons are incredibly comfortable to wear. They are pigmented and creamy but not at all shiny. However, if you are looking for a lip color that lasts all day, this is not for you. You will need to reapply after eating, drinking, or even just talking for a few hours.
You can see that Glacé pulls a little warm on my skin. It does look a bit more nude on the lips.
I also want to point out that these pencils have a built-in sharpener. Yes, you heard me right. Simply pull off the bottom of the casing to reveal a little pencil sharpener that can make your lip crayon pointy again. Ta-da!
So, if you’re in the market for a semi-matte lip crayon, I highly recommend this one by Bite Beauty. They have over 15 shades available, and even some cute sets for the holidays!
If you’ve tried the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon, let us know in the comments!

]]>[may contain affiliate links] Hello, class! Today I want to talk about Stila’s Stay All Day, Sparkle All Night set that is part of their holiday 2016 collection. This set contains five Stay All Day liquid lipsticks and one “Glitterati” top coat.
The Stila Stay All Day, Sparkle All Night set has a mix of new and old shades. They include:
All of the lipsticks contain .05 oz of product. They have Stila’s traditional doe-foot applicator and the formulas have the somewhat thick consistency I have come to expect from this brand. My only big issue is the Glitterati top coat, which leaked through the cap when I didn’t shake it up enough before application (I think the liquid traveled from the applicator stick).
The glitter top coat is beautiful and does completely dry down. It does not change the color of the lipstick over which you apply it, but it does pack on the glitter. This product may not be your cup of tea if you are averse to plain ol’ glitter on the lips (as opposed to a metallic finish).
This set retails at Ulta for $35 USD, while Stila says it has a value of $71. So, the Stay All Day, Sparkle All Night is a great option if you want to try Stila’s liquid lipstick formula. This set will also make a great gift this holiday season!
Update: now available at Sephora, too!!!
