Tatouage Couture
Hello, all! I wanted to share a couple of amazing lipsticks I picked up during the recent Sephora sale craziness. Let’s just say I went in for dry shampoo and came out with a tiny bit more… Anyway, the Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Stain drew me because the packaging is absolutely gorgeous. It was also a product I hadn’t heard much about, so I was curious. Naturally, within five minutes my hand was stained with swatches and I had two shades in my basket (note to self: stop taking baskets when they are offered.)
The Tatouage Couture line has eighteen shades ranging from light pink to deep blackberry. The product claims include a lightweight, non-drying formula, up to 8 hours wear time and a conveniently-shaped applicator.
I chose shade #5, Rosewood Gang, and shade #12, Red Tribe. I don’t believe these shade names were on the display at Sephora, but I just looked them up on the Sephora website.
As you can see, the applicator does have a really interesting shape that allows for a precise application. I found this to be one of the easier (if not the easiest) liquid lipsticks to apply. I also love that the formula has a thinner consistency, but is still buildable. There’s nothing worse than a liquid lipstick that gets crumbly due to layering. This product does not have that issue, so you can choose between a stain effect and full coverage. You can also touch up throughout the day quite easily.
The only negative I can share about this product is that it is slightly drying over time. While it feels very lightweight during wear, I found that my lips were craving some extra moisture post-wear. Certainly not a deal breaker, but something to be wary of.
Here are some arm swatches (please excuse the smudges!) #12 is on the left and #5 is on the right.
Just so you can see how these colors look on my skintone, I am sharing some selfies:
I highly recommend the YSL Tatouage Couture line if you are shopping for a new liquid lipstick. Let me know what you think!
