I want to talk today about MAC’s new foundation, their Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof one. Wow, that’s a mouthful. Classmates with good attendance will remember that this was featured in my June Favorites.
According to the MAC website, this foundation is:
A tenacious waterproof formula that can be used as a foundation or concealer, wearing for an unprecedented 24 hours. Neither rain nor tears can budge this oil-free watertight product that actually repels moisture from the surface of the face. The formula blends seamlessly on the skin with medium to full weightless coverage and a natural satin finish.
Let’s get to it! (Be sure to look at our grading policy)
Ease of Application: 5/5
This may be my most versatile foundation in terms of application. I’ve done it with my trust Beauty Blender, my It Cosmetics brushes, my giant Becca brush, and even my fingers. Beauty Blender is probably the best, but brushes afford fuller coverage. No method looks bad, though, and that’s what counts.
This foundation is super long-lasting. I would say it is medium to full coverage as described. My only slight issue is that my nose still gets oily after a few hours, at least in the summer heat. Certainly nothing a little blotting paper can’t fix! The foundation itself is not a thick liquid, but also not as fluid as some recent serum foundations. It’s somewhere in between and really nice to apply, as I mentioned.
I wear NC20 and I can speak to the fact that this formula does not oxidize or do anything weird color-wise once it’s on your face. It comes in 16 shades, which is not as many as some other MAC foundations, but I imagine you could combine a couple if you needed to.
For some reason this comes in a squeezy tube like BB creams often do. I’m not against it, it just seems funny. It’s good for getting out just a small amount, because that’s all you really need!
Final Grade: 19/20 = A!
This is by far my favorite MAC foundation ever. I’ve had problems with their foundations in the past causing my skin to go crazy, but that’s not the case with this lovely product. I recommend trying a sample if you are interested!
