mac retro matte liquid lipcolour
Hello, class! Coming in early January to MAC counters (and already online) is MAC’s new line of matte liquid lipsticks. There are 15 diverse, yet classic, shades of MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour available, ranging from pale pink to deep plum.
I’ve been lucky enough to try out three shades. Today will be a brief “first impressions” type synopsis, and we will do a full-on grading soon.
I swatched the new MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in “Lady-Be-Good”(a warm mid-tone nude), “To Matte With Love” (a bright raspberry) and “Dance With Me” (deep cranberry red).
When I compare these to other popular liquid lipstick formulas, I would say the consistency is thick – similar to Stila’s Stay All Day line- and not as thin or watery as ColourPop or Lime Crime.

All three shades are pigmented and opaque.
So far, I’ve only full-day tested the nude shade. This lasted through multiple shades and sushi without so much as a crack, crumble or fade. Color me impressed! You will get the standard line of demarcation between lipstick and natural lip, but I have yet to have any lipstick avoid this.

All three shades applied easily with the enclosed applicator. That does not make me good at applying liquid lipstick, as you will soon see. The lipsticks dry relatively quickly and settle completely matte with little-to-no tackiness.
None of these colors is groundbreaking, though I do feel that this formula is likely one of the best in the market. I’ll do a formal grading as soon as I’ve done a few more days of testing!
Please, if you have swatches, share them in the comments! See you soon!
