]]>Hello, class, and please accept my apologies for this long delay in updating! However, we are officially in summer mode so now I can catch up on showing you all the things I have to show you. The first, and possibly most important thing I have to show you is the ColourPop Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette.
First, let’s talk about ColourPop’s pressed powder shadow formula. This is a somewhat newer product in the short history of ColourPop, and it is fabulous. The normal shadow pans are $5 each, but swatch like high-end formulas. The pans in the Yes, Please! palette are smaller than the single shadows, but you are still getting twelve shades for $16.
The shades in the ColourPop Yes, Please! palette, as stated on ColourPop’s site, are:
Full-Zip: matte warm ivory
Big Cocktails: matte orange
Champs: matte pale peachy nude
Bling: metallic rust
Louie: metallic duochrome red with a gold flip
Butter Cake: metallic pale yellow gold
Spoiled: matte brick red
Gno: matte burnt orange
Mischief: matte warm yellow
Note to Self: matte warm caramel
Chauffeur: metallic duochrome bright orange with a gold flip
French Kiss: matte deep red brown
Basically, this is you everyday super warm-toned palette. It is very similar to a very expensive palette that I do not own to swatch for you. Yes, I’m talking about the Natasha Denona Sunset palette. Just google it.
Here, let me just show you the swatches already. First, in direct sunlight:
Now, in the shade:
Mind you, these were flat brush swatches, and I did not touch the brush to the pan more than once for each swatch. So yeah, pigmentation in there. The top shade is obviously tough to see on my particular skin tone. Mattes and metallics alike perform well.
I have used the ColourPop Yes, Please! Palette on the eyes and is works for a wide array of looks, from neutral to fire-inspired. However, this palette does come with a few negatives. For one, it’s white. It will get dirty. Sorry. And even worse – it’s currently out of stock. However, ColourPop did say they’d restock soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
In the meantime, check out some other ColourPop posts!

Hello everyone! Here is a brief overview of some of my beauty favorites that I used last month!
First, let’s talk about the newest ColourPop craze – their powder shadows. These bad boys are no joke. At only $5 a piece, they compete with other well-known brands that sell magnetic pans. I got eight shades (because it was a free palette for every 4) and fit all 8 into the palette once I removed the insert.
My favorite shades are Paper Tiger and High Strung! You know I love my warm-toned shadows!
Next up, the new IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact. This is apparently the first solid serum foundation on the market. It provides a medium coverage, natural finish, and never feels heavy. I don’t think it will ever reach holy grail status for me, but I love it for everyday, easygoing looks.
I’ve also been loving the Make Up For Ever Star Lit Liquid – 2 Pink Beige. It’s the most amazing iridescent liquid. I like to pat it on top of whatever shadow I’m wearing to transform from human to unicorn.
Now, for the lipsticks. Nudestix, first. This new Magnetic Matte Lip Color is amazing. I especially love Greystone. I have more on that here.
Then we have the new Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip. The shade Pink Heather is great for everyday wear. I like that it is creamy but it doesn’t wear away quickly like other none-matte products. Swatches are up here.
Well, there you have it! I’d love to hear about your last month’s favorites. Please comment a link to them!

]]>Hi, class! I hope you will forgive me for the paucity of posts this week; as you probably know, the first days of school are quite busy! Luckily, today I’m here to show you some beautiful new(ish) products from ColourPop. I’m talking about the Ultra Metallic liquid lipsticks. I got my greedy hands on four ColourPop Ultra Metallic lips to swatch for you!
According to ColourPop, the Ultra Metallic lip is:
A super intense metalized liquid lipstick that is dripping with high impact metallic pearls. This non-drying formula was created to be luxurious, smooth and leave a super comfortable feel on the lips. While the formula is not completely transfer resistant, it is extremely long wearing!
ColourPop currently has 11 Ultra Metallic lipsticks available, and the four I have are Lights Out, Flitter, Man Eater and Zebra. These $6 lipsticks come in the same packaging as ColourPop’s Ultra Matte and Ultra Satin lipsticks.
Swatched, the ColourPop Ultra Metallic lips offer decent coverage and staying power. I don’t find that they dry down completely- they have more of the Ultra Satin “almost dry” feel. However, they do not transfer excessively when eating or drinking.
I have a feeling that the ColourPop Ultra Metallic lipsticks are going to be a staple in my fall makeup routine. Have you tried them yet? Tell us how you feel about them in the comments, please!

The July Favorites time is always an upsetting time because it means Summer is half over. Or, I suppose you could look at it as “half started.” I guess most teachers go with the former. Life is hard.
July was full of fun new releases, for sure. The warmer months also bring us back to past favorites meant to withstand crazy humidity and heat. So, without further ado, here are my July beauty favorites.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit “Moonchild” – When I first started planning for this post, I had no doubt that Moonchild would be among my favorites for the month. Boasting unique and ethereal colors, this palette is a must-have for the highlight enthusiast. It is currently out-of-stock but I bet it will make a brief comeback, so keep your eyes peeled!
Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette – This extremely versatile glitter bomb is a fantastic way to add some sparkle in your life. I especially enjoy using the many shades to add just a hint of sheen on top of other matte shadows.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – This is a rediscovery for me. My older Born This Way foundation was just a touch too dark, so when I finally repurchased in the correct shade it was like finding love all over again. This is a full coverage foundation that will last through your sweatiest days.
ColourPop Ultra Satin Lipstick “Alyssa” – This neutral dusty pink is basically my lip color but somehow better. And you know absolutely love ColourPop’s Ultra Satin formula. This shade is a part of KathleenLight’s collaboration so be sure to get your hands on it before it is gone.
Too Faced Sketch Markers – The liquid eye liners are just so fun. They come in many colors (I have Smoky Emerald and Papaya Peach). They have a felt marker tip that allows for easy line and wing drawing.
BeautyBlender Blotterazzi – I was in the habit of continually applying powder to my face until I found this guy. The Blotterazzi is like the sponge version of blotting papers. The product comes with two sponges in a cute case that has a giant mirror. The Blotterazzi does not remove makeup when pressed to your face, just excess oil. I highly recommend it.
Well, those are my July favorites. What were yours? Please link to them in the comments for everyone to see!

]]>The post Ocean-Inspired Eyes appeared first on This teacher wears makeup..
]]>originally posted 9/7/15 Have you ever done your makeup and just been so proud of it that you had to share? That happened to me today. My plan to create something simple quickly went sparkly and fun. I decided to call it my Ocean-Inspired Eyes look. This look features one of my favorite brands, ColourPop.
I started with a base of Mary Kay eye primer.
I used ColourPop “Girly” from my brow to my crease with a flat synthetic brush. I used the same brush to apply “Cop A Feel” to my lid.
Then, I applied “Snap Dragon” to my crease with a fluffy crease brush.
Using a small, flat brush I patted “Krinkle” onto my lid and slightly into the crease.
Finally, I went back to “Snap Dragon” and brought it down onto my lower lash line.
For liner, I used MAC Fluidline in “Wave Line” with an angled liner brush.
I applied a coat of Dior Show mascara and a trimmed pair of Red Cherry demi wispies.
I like this look because it is blue without looking like I jumped out of the eighties or a middle school dance. It is also sparkly without being glittery, if that makes sense. Basically, it’s like a really cool wet look.
I hope you can take some inspiration from my Ocean-Inspired Eyes. I hope you will share your looks in the comments!

]]>Let’s start off 2016 by taking a look at some of my favorite beauty products from 2015! For the sake of brevity, I’ll try to keep my descriptions short and sweet. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you’d like more information! Where possible, I have included links to the product from websites I have used in the past. I have also linked to previous reviews, if I have one.
For fun, I’ve included swatches of the above-mentioned lip products:
My favorite part of starting the new year is seeing everyone else’s favorites from the previous 12 months. Please, share your lists in the comments so we can all see!

For your eyes:
ColourPop makes some of my favorite shimmery (and low-cost) products. For NYE, I gravitate towards Cricket and Hammered for their multidimensional sparkle.
I’m also loving MAC’s Pearlglide Instense Eye Liner in Petrol Blue. This deep navy pencil has just a hint of glitter and can easily be blended out for a smokey NYE look.
Also check out Lime Crime’s liquid liners for a glittery surprise. I’m showing Rhyme here, but Reason, a silver, is equally impressive and still available.
For your face:
ColourPop kills it, again, in this department. For a super glow, I recommend their highlighter in Spoon.
Nars’ dual intensity blushes also offer some great NYE options. I particularly recommend their Steven Klein collaboration in the shade(s) Vengeful. The left-side highlighter is fantastic on the cheek bones.
As always, please share your related posts in the comments so we can all see! And check back soon for my 2015 beauty favorites list!

]]>Representing Colourpop: Bichette is a deep, blue-toned red. It’s super classy. Bossy is a brighter red. It’s really nice to pair with a gold eye.
From Kat Von D: Adora is an orange-toned red, which is a lovely warm option for this time of year. It has a slight shimmer. Thin Lizzy is more of a brick-red that has a bit more shimmer and would be nice with a smokey eye.
From MAC: Charlotte (LE) is another deep red if you’re feeling sultry. And Russian Red is a MAC classic that looks great on many skin tones.
Please share your holiday red picks with the class in the comments! Wishing you and your families a happy holiday season!

Darn, now I’m hungry.
Let me show you the shades I got. I was going for everyday wearable shades. You’ll find that I only half-succeeded.
